Artist statement
As an artist, I am driven to bring beauty, light and hope into a world that often feels complex and fragmented. Art is my way of connecting and telling stories that evoke emotion and memory. My paintings celebrate life’s transformative journey, blending the sacred and familiar through vibrant, harmonious worlds. Inspired by Greek mythology, spiritual iconography, and transcendentalist ideals, I explore cycles of nature and human experience—growth, metamorphosis, and the fleeting passage of time.
I also draw inspiration from the colorful, sensual still lifes of French pastries and sweets, where indulgence meets artistry, as well as figurative works and portraits, which capture the depth of human expression and individuality. Bold brushstrokes and joyful colors pulse through all my work, weaving symbols of the divine feminine, intuition, and the subconscious. Each piece honors life’s rhythms, celebrating its beauty, evolution, and ephemeral magic.
A figurative painter in France
Liz Adams, an American figurative painter based in Paris, captures the poetry of life through her art. Born in Marietta, Georgia, she has had a lifelong passion for painting. She studied at the Art Students League of New York and the National Academy and explored Renaissance art in Florence (Italy). In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Grant in recognition of her commitment to figurative art.
For 15 years, Liz lived in New York City, immersed in its vibrant art scene. Her work has been further enriched by artist residencies in Vietnam, New York, and Barcelona, blending classical influences with a modern vision. In 2020, she fulfilled her dream of moving to Paris, where the city’s joie de vivre has infused her work with a brighter palette. Splitting her time between Paris and the Mediterranean warmth of Nice, she draws inspiration from the Riviera’s luminous light.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including her first museum group show in 2024 at the Metropolitan Museum in Tokyo. Specializing in portraits and landscapes, she can also engage audiences through live art events. With online classes, private mentorships and workshops, she inspires others to explore their artistic voices. Her expressive paintings are held in multiple collections mostly in the U.S. and France.
